Officers arrested a 22-year-old man from Vlissingen on Wednesday for bank help desk fraud, the police reported.
More than two thousand medical devices in the Netherlands are not sufficiently secured. Z-CERT, the expertise center for cybersecurity in healthcare, reports this. Hackers may be able to digitally take over and disable the devices. Ventilation systems, blood pressure monitors and infusion pumps are, among others, vulnerable to cyber attacks.
A group of criminals has defrauded dozens of elderly people through bank help desk fraud. They used telephone numbers that they had obtained during a data breach from, among other things, a call center, the police reported.
A 30-year-old American has been sentenced to seven years in prison for hacking into a healthcare facility in the United States in 2014, the US Department of Justice reported Monday.
